D flip-flop | definition dan working principle

what is D flip-flop?

Do you know what is D flip-flop? How does D flip-flop work and how to make D flip-flop using nand gates?

D flip-flop or often referred to as data flip-flop or delay flip-flop is a refinement of the RS flip-flop where if the RS flip-flop there is a forbidden condition then the D flip-flop it is no longer found

For an article about RS flip-flop please read the previous article about the working principle of RS flip-flop

The working principle of D flip-flop is the same as the Rs flip-flop just that there is addition of not logic gate. So you must read not gate working principle

how to make D flip-flop using nand gates and how does D flip-flop work?

The D-flip-flop circuit is the same as the RS flip-flop just one input on is passed through the not gate

so the two inputs always have different logic so that forbidden conditions such as the RS flip-flop can be avoided

D flip-flop can be made from both or gate and nor gate. But this time I will only explain the D flip-flop using nand gates only because the way it works is almost the same

D flip-flop has only 1 input that is input D (data)

In digital circuits the D flip-flop is symbolized as shown below

D flip-flop master slave

D master slave flop-flop is a combination of two D flip-flops where the first flip-flop is used as the master flip-flop and the second flip-flop is made into slave

[the_ad id = “5892”]

master flip-flop or master serves to control the slave flop-flop (slave)

If on the usual D flip-flop a condition change can occur at a high logic clock not the same as the D flip-flop master slave

In D flip-flop master slave change output will occur when the clock transition occurs when the clock changes from 1 to 0

D flip-flop master slave

The Working principle D Flip-flop master slave is output change only occurs if clock changes occur

If the clock is not running then the output condition will remain and not change

D flip-flop is often used as a counter or shift register
