How diodes works is that the diode can only drain the electric current in one direction only. If the electric current comes from the opposite direction then the diode will inhibit

The feature of the diode is that it has only 2 legs, which is called the anode and cathode legs. The current on the diode can only flow in one direction only

In other words Diodes can only deliver current from the anode to the cathode only and if diode position is reversed then the diode can function as an insulator
